Armand M. Chimenti
Marines
Sergeant
Veteran

The day after his 18th birthday, August 28, 1967, Armand enlisted in the Marine Corps along with a high school friend. He did so because of lack of monetary funds for a college education. He was initially sent to MCRD in San Diego, CA for Boot Camp. From there he went to ITR at Camp Pendleton. After that he did a short stay at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He then went to Vietnam, close to Danang. When his tour of duty was over he re-upped for a second tour.
While proudly serving he was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Rifle Marksmanship Badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, RVN Cross of Gallantry w/palm & frame, Good Conduct Medal (1st awd).
Armand was honorably discharged June 15,1970.
As his wife, and along with our sons, we are very proud of his service at such a young age and during a time when our country was very divided. In Armand’s own words, he “Did what he felt he had to do.”
