Donald E. Delo

Born & raised in Erie, PA, Donald E. Delo enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating from East HS in 1958. Don served 12 years between active duty & reserves, being honorably discharged in 1965 & 1973 respectively. During active duty, he served in Yokosuka & Kamaseya, Japan, as a Communications Technician 2nd Class in the Naval Security Group. As a CT2, Don could not disclose or discuss what he did nor what communications he received & transferred, even up to 30 years post discharge. During his tenure, Don's division ranked 1st among Naval Security Divisions many times, including 1st & 3rd rankings in the nation. He & his wife, Carol, returned to Erie to raise their family, where he worked at GTE for 36 years, also serving in leadership positions for his local IBEW. Don has especially been an inspiration to his daughters & grandchildren, instilling traits such as hard work, dedication, honesty, respect for all people, being grounded in Faith, and having a genuine love for life. Don has shown what it is to serve God, family, & country.
