Commissioned as an active-duty 13A Field Artillery Officer and Paratrooper in the U.S. Army from 2012–2018, Justin trained in the ROTC program from 2008–2012 and attended Airborne School in 2010 as a cadet. Upon earning his commission as a Second Lieutenant in 2012, he attended the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Following graduation, Justin served with C Battery, 1-78 Field Artillery Battalion as a platoon leader, fire direction officer, and executive officer, training the next generation of cannon crew members. He later served as a detachment executive officer and training operations officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 434th Field Artillery Brigade. Justin was selected for promotion to Captain and attended the Field Artillery Captain’s Career Course in 2016 at Fort Sill, graduating with honors.
Justin was then assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division (AATW) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. There, he served as a Squadron Fire Support Officer with HHB, Field Artillery, Division Artillery (DIVARTY), and the 1-17 Cavalry Squadron, conducting reconnaissance and attack aviation fires planning in support of the 82nd Airborne Division. Justin maintained his airborne qualification and completed 10 airborne operations while stationed at Fort Bragg.
Justin also attended the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana, in support of a 2017 brigade rotation and participated in multiple Joint Warfighter Exercises at both Fort Bragg and Fort Campbell. Justin completed his active-duty service in 2018. Serving his country was the greatest honor of his life, and he is deeply proud to have earned the title of veteran and paratrooper. He remains dedicated to supporting veterans through volunteerism and community awareness efforts.
