Paul Canfield was born on October 6, 1920. He enlisted in the Marines on September 23, 1942. Paul was a Private First Class, Automatic Rifleman, that fought in the Pacific from February 15, 1943, until October 24, 1944. He was wounded in the battle for Gaum on July 24, 1944, and received the Purple Heart Medal on September 25, 1944. After recovering from his wounds in he participated in War Bond Efforts on behalf of the military. Paul received his honorable discharge on October 25, 1945. After his discharge he returned home to live in Millcreek. He was owner and operator of an automotive repair shop until his passing on September 26, 1997.
