My dad was a light tank crewman. While on patrol his tank was severely disabled by the Germans . The tank sat disabled and burning for days on the side of the road while others past thinking there couldn’t be any possibility of survivors. After 3 days a patrol stopped to recover bodies and found my Dad barely alive.
