PFC Stanley Buzard served with the 25th Infantry Division "Tropic Lightning" from 1944-1946, participating in the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines where he earned the Bronze Star for combat, followed by occupation duty in Japan.
Campaigns: Pacific Theater campaign in the Philippines, specifically the Battle of Luzon which began in January 1945.
Key Battles: Fought in the intense jungle combat, notable involved in the areas of Binalonan, Umingan, Lupao, San Jose, and the fierce fighting to capture Balete Pass.
Decorations: Awarded the Bronze Star (for heroic achievement or service in a combat zone), Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon (with Bronze Star), and the WWII Ribbon.
Post War Duty: After VJ Day, he was stationed in Occupied Japan from 1945-1946 as part of the occupation forces.
