My father was an Army Ranger, wounded on D-Day but, still scaled the cliff at Point du Hoc. He was there when Paris was liberated. He was seriously wounded on 9/11/1944 in Belgium. After many surgeries, he recovered. He served 4 yrs. in the Army. He received 2 Purple Hearts, Victory Medal, the Bronz Star and many other awards. Dad then spent 22 years in the Air Force serving on 3 continents. We lived in South America, Central America, Europe, and United States. He received his ham radio call sign from Charles De Gaule-F 7. Dad was very proud to have served his country being 1st generation American. His parents were from Sicily.
